If you’ve ever googled “why can’t I just focus,” “my child won’t listen no matter what I try,” or “is this ADHD or anxiety” at 11pm — this blog is for you.
Welcome. I’m so glad you found your way here.
My name is Danette Neucom, and I’m a licensed professional counselor with a specialty in ADHD. I work with individuals from age 6 all the way through adulthood — which means I sit across from first graders who can’t stay in their seats and 45-year-olds who just received their first ADHD diagnosis and finally understand why their entire life has felt so hard.
ADHD is one of the most misunderstood conditions in mental health. It is also one of the most common. And yet, so many people — kids, teens, adults — go years without the right answers, the right support, or even the right words for what they’re experiencing.
That’s what this blog is for.
Here, you’ll find:
- Clear, jargon-free explanations of ADHD, anxiety, and depression
- Practical strategies for daily life — routines, emotions, relationships, and work
- Guidance for parents raising kids with ADHD (without burning out yourself)
- Honest conversations about what therapy, medication, and support actually look like
- Content written for adults — whether you’re managing your own diagnosis or advocating for your child
A word about anxiety and depression: ADHD rarely travels alone. Most people with ADHD also experience anxiety, depression, or both at some point in their lives. We’ll be talking about all three throughout this blog — because understanding the overlap is often the key to finally feeling better.
Whether your child was just diagnosed, you suspect ADHD in yourself, or you’ve been living with this for decades — you are not broken. You are not lazy. You are not “too much.” You are a person whose brain works differently, in a world not always designed with you in mind.
This blog won’t have all the answers. But I hope it gives you language, clarity, and maybe a little relief that you are absolutely not alone.
New posts go up every other week. Subscribe below so you never miss one.
Let’s get into it.
